Writing for Kiddos
Writing for kids is not as easy as it looks, but I’ve been lucky to work on a number of kid-focused projects over the years, including 2 seasons as the lead writer on Kinect NatGeo TV.
I’ve also written for a number of educational publishers, most notably McGraw Hill, for whom I wrote more than 90 cartoons for their SRA Flex Literacy program, as well as a number of STEM projects. I’ve included some of my favorites on this page.
Often, I’m engaged for concept creation and ideation for children’s shows, new learning programs and educational programs. I’ve included some images below of what this kind of deliverable looks like.
Concepts and Ideation
Every kids property I have been apart of begins with tons of concepts and ideation. If I wrote 90 published cartoons, for example, there were at least 200 concepts that didn’t make the cut. Here are some samples of what this kind of work looks like.
Blue Monkey Books
I wrote three titles for Blue Monkey Books, an interactive book publishing application aimed at K-5 readers that created completely customized reading experiences for young readers. This project is out-of-print now, as they say, but the experiences I had while working on it were invaluable.
